ROCKING HARD IS THE CODE that made us who we are. So to those of you who can appreciate a transformational anthem from the blitzkrieg electronica scene, here’s a favorite of mine. Birmingham 6 lives with thunder on this awesome myth-busting track—Die For Jehovah. For more details, here’s another suggestive monster page to help introduce listener to the powerful, and once rather illusive soundmaker. The band was formed in autumn 1991 by Kim Lohde Petersen & Michael Hillerup. Both long-time musicians and friends from the prolific Danish Underground Scene. After having played in several bands over the years, both together and apart, and having tried out different alternative musical styles, they both found themselves working with electronic music prior to forming Birmingham 6.

After a break from working with each other for almost 10 years, they decided to work together again. By then one of their biggest motivations for forming a band was a big lack of conscious awareness in the Danish music scene. About this same time the story of the original Birmingham Six came to the band’s knowledge, as they were finally being released from years of incarceration. The story of the “Birmingham Six” affected the band considerable, and they decided to take on the name for their band.

The name Birmingham 6 was a monument for all the injustices that had taken place, and still does in in a modern democratic society, and was an apt choice for a moniker for the bands musical ideas.

Check ’em out. This band is a battle force in my all-time Top Thirteen, and get ample airplay over at our very own Radio Scenewash. So please consider the source. Plant yourself some justice. You can even download the tune. Click here to DOWNLOAD.

Meanwhile, here are the lyrics of Die For Jehovah by Birmingham 6:

Don’t Ask For His Forgiveness
Don’t Dream Of Paradise
You’re Lost In Purgatory
If You Do Not Choose To Die

It’s Rape If You Receive The Blood
A Stranger In Your Vein
The Thought Of Your Betrayal
Will Make You Feel The Pain

Die For Jehovah
He’s The King Of Fools
You’re The Kids Of Doom
For Jehovah

The Playground Is For Mortal Souls
You Cannot Play The Game
Don’t Mingle With The Desecrate
They Twist Your Mind Again

Don’t Ever Mix Your Blood
Keep The Needle From Your Skin
It’s Better To Be Dead
Instead Of Growing Up In Sin

Die For Jehovah
He’s The King Of Fools
You’re The Kids Of Doom
For Jehovah

Stop This Insanity
And Rise From The Dead
Let The Blood Run In Streams
From Your Hips To Your Head

Die For Jehovah
He’s The King Of Fools
You’re The Kids Of Doom
For Jehovah

Burn Down The Tower
And Break Every Spell
Let’s Unveil All The Liars
And Burn Them In Hell

No Child Should Be Led
By The Hands Of A Fool
Don’t Die For Jehovah
Cause Living Is Cool!

And if all that is not enough to sate your appetite for God Knows What, here’s a link to another interesting blog page reminding us that there was indeed a formal debate held at the Lolita Bar in NYC on the eternal question—Does Christian Rock Suck?

Free admission, cash bar. The debates, usually pitting two opponents against each other (in a civil and often humorous fashion), take place on the basement level of Lolita Bar at 266 Broome St. at the corner of Allen St. on the Lower East Side of Manhattan, one block south and three west of the Delancey St. F, J, M, Z subway stop.

August 30 - Ezekiel 21: When Countries Won’t Listen to God

he 21st chapter of Ezekiel deals with the nation of Israel, which was not listening to and obeying God’s commands. It’s easy to read the Bible with the mindset that ancient Israel was another time, with people that have different problems than we do. Unfortunately, the United States has a lot in common with ancient […] Read more »

One Response to “Die For Jehovah – Birmingham 6”

  1. Although I would change the first stanza from:

    Don’t Ask For His Forgiveness
    Don’t Dream Of Paradise
    You’re Lost In Purgatory
If You Do Not Choose To Die

    to this:

    When asking for His Forgiveness
    Don’t dream of paradise
    You’re lost in purgatory
    If you choose to die…

But that is such a common thought, eh?
